Description

Gudmar Olovson spent nearly six decades in Paris, where he developed a figurative and free sculptural language rooted in observation, empathy and a deep attachment to bronze as a living, responsive material. He approached sculpture as a way to register fleeting states of being, building closely observed forms that hold on to the immediacy of first encounter even as they settle into the permanence of metal. Olovson participated in numerous officials Paris Salons and had many monographic exhibitions in Paris, Stockholm, New York. “For me it has never been a problem of wanting to be modern." Gudmar Olovson’s monumental work can, among other places, be viewed in: - Le Jardin de l’Amour at Château de Cheverny, French Loire Valley - 6 monumental bronzes, - Falsterbo Open Air Museum, (coastal southern Sweden) - 5 bronzes, - La Promenade de Cagnes-sur-Mer, French Riviera 2 bronzes - Bois de Boulognes, Paris, Les Deux Arbres - Château Petrus, France, Les Deux Arbres - Ferring Pharmaceutical HQ, Copenhagen, Denmark, Les Deux Arbres - Private collection, The Costwolds, Les Deux Arbres The Gudmar Olovson Estate has since 2017 archived and catalogued all Olovson's works and a catalogue raisonné will be published in 2027.
