Gudmar Olovson spent nearly six decades in Paris, where he developed a figurative and free sculptural language rooted in observation, empathy and a deep attachment to bronze as a living, responsive material. He approached sculpture as a way to register fleeting states of being, building closely observed forms that hold on to the immediacy of first encounter even as they settle into the permanence of metal. Olovson participated in numerous officials Paris Salons and had many monographic exhibitions in Paris, Stockholm, New York. “For me it has never been a problem of wanting to be modern."
