Didier Ltd is unique in specialising in jewellery made and designed by painters, sculptors, architects and designers from the second half of the 20th century. These artists are all recognised internationally for their art, but their jewellery is less well known or recorded. These jewels are very intimate and personal expressions of their art and may be regarded as wearable sculptures. The jewels were made as gifts for family and friends, especially by sculptors who are generally more adept in working their ideas out on a smaller scale, while for others it was a conscious exercise to create designs in miniature. Painters and print-makers are more likely to need the help of a facilitator to turn their designs into three-dimensional jewels, and the resulting pieces are more usually produced in small limited editions.
